5 Quick Tips for Making Thanksgiving Travel Healthier
When traveling, managing stress is key for health and for having a great time during the holidays. One way to avoid unneeded stress is to plan ahead, space out tasks, and don’t procrastinate packing until the night before!
Bring healthy food choices while traveling; this way you can avoid going for unhealthier options just because it’s convenient on the road.
Stay hydrated. Bring water in order to hydrate yourself, ease digestion, and stay alert. Many people end up drinking caffeinated beverages such as sodas and coffee in order to stay away while driving, or being alert for a long travel day by plane. Caffeine dehydrates your body, which leads to decreased energy levels.
Stretch before and after long plane and car rides, and find ways to keep your body active. Get up and walk around for a few minutes on the plane, or make a pit stop on the road so that you aren’t sitting for too long.
Peace and quiet is also a must to staying happy and healthy while traveling. Travel with a deck of cards, a good book, or magazines, or bring a game!
