Alkaline Diet Guidelines

The goal of an alkaline diet is to help create a balance in your system. Questions abound whether eating less acid-causing foods such as protein could help prevent your system from leaching acidic-based minerals such as calcium from your bones. Clinical studies are ongoing, but one did reveal that eating an alkaline diet may result in decreased bone loss in healthy older adults.
