What is an Alkaline Diet?
Food, once metabolized, releases either an alkaline or acidic base into the bloodstream. Many nutritionists believe that blood, saliva and urine should be slightly alkaline for good health. An alkaline diet helps to balance the natural pH ratio of your body, which should remain between 7.33 and 7.4. Keeping the body in the proper pH range protects it from bacterial, viral or fungal invasions. Most pH imbalances result from too much acid in the system and require an alkaline diet.
