Go Green, Shop Green, Eat Green!

Fall is considered the harvest season, and we love to incorporate fresh, in-season produce into our recipes for smoothies, salads, sides, soups and even sweets! It’s also the perfect time to cleanse your body, especially if you anticipate going a little overboard once holiday season is in full swing. In addition to drinking great tasting evamor to stay hydrated, you can help to naturally detoxify your body by enjoying some of the fresh flavors that autumn offers!

This fall detox guide from Picky Eater blog shares some “do’s and don’ts” for your Fall cleanse, which is best followed for three to seven days:

Say yes to:

Say no to:
  • Processed foods and fast foods
  • Meat
  • Alcohol
  • Caffeine
  • Refined Sugar
  • Processed Wheat and all white grains

Now that you know what to take out, take advantage of what’s fresh and in-season, and popular among Fall flavor profiles:

  • Okra contains potassium, vitamins B and C and folic acid
  • Ginger is immune boosting, relieves digestion and anti-inflammatory
  • Apples are full of insoluble fiber, which helps your body to rid itself of toxins
  • Kale is a green for all seasons, but we enjoy it stirred into hearty stews and love its anti-inflammatory and stress relieving benefits
  • Beets are a great antioxidant full of fiber, potassium and folate
  • Brussels Sprouts are sooooo satisfying when roasted, and they boast high amounts of Vitamins C and K and fiber
  • Pomegranates are known as the magic fruit! Their seeds are believed to be able to lower cholesterol
  • Sweet Potatoes are a great source of Vitamin A and anti-inflammatory antioxidants
