John Mayer has spoken out about his month-long silence after a vocal chord injury.
The singer was forced to stay silent last year due to complications with granuloma.
It’s Only Music Now reports that in an interview with Rolling Stone, Mayer said: “I did a lot of therapy, like anti-acid reflux, and it didn’t work, then I went on vocal rest. No alcohol. No spicy food. No talking.
“Most of September I wasn’t talking at all. I’d have a Bluetooth keyboard, and someone would have an iPad to read what I type. I had to point to menus at restaurants. People look at me like I’m crazy.”
The ‘Daughters’ star revealed that the operation did not go to plan, and he has scheduled a second surgery.
In the same interview, Mayer admitted that ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift’s song ‘Dear John’ “humiliated” him upon its release.
Mayer, 34, recently released a new studio album titled Born and Raised.
