Alkaline Foods and Gout

Gout is a form of arthritis that develops when uric acid crystals deposit in the small joints of the extremities. Gout has a relationship to the foods you eat and how they affect your body, according to “The Acid Alkaline Balance Diet.” Many foods contribute to acidosis, increasing the amount of uric acid in the bloodstream and aggravating gout. Eating an alkaline-based diet may reduce acidosis and relieve gout pain. Whenever you change your diet drastically, consult first with your health practitioner.
