Toothache & an Alkaline Diet

The theory behind alkaline diets is that eating more alkaline-producing foods prevents metabolic imbalances and illnesses that result from eating too many acid-producing foods, according to “Today’s Dietitian” magazine. The effectiveness of an alkaline diet on your health has not yet been proven, but “Today’s Dietitian” says a diet rich in vegetables and fruits — which are alkaline-producing — is healthier overall and thus may prevent health problems such as mineral loss that can lead to tooth decay and toothache.
